Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Colored sprinkles (optional)

Instructions 

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, sugar, and yeast.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm.
  3. Add milk mixture to flour mixture; beat until smooth.
  4. Add eggs, vanilla, and salt; mix well.
  5. Gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  6. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  7. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled.
  8. Punch down dough, divide into 3 pieces, and braid.
  9. Form braid into a ring and place on a greased baking sheet.
  10. Cover and let rise until doubled.
  11. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  12. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Cool on a wire rack and decorate with sprinkles if desired.
