  • 3 cups Rye Flour
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoon Caraway Seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast
  • 1.5 cups Warm Water

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine rye flour, all-purpose flour, caraway seeds, salt, and sugar.
  2. 2. Dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. 3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms.
  4. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. 6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it on a greased baking sheet.
  7. 7. Cover and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. 8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. 9. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
