Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. 2. Add honey, olive oil, and eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. 3. Gradually add whole wheat flour and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. 6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and divide it into three equal parts. Braid the dough and place it on a greased baking sheet.
  7. 7. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool on a wire rack before serving.
