Main Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 cups buttermilk
- 1 cup raisins
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in the buttermilk until the dough comes together. Fold in the raisins.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it a few times. Shape it into a round loaf.
Place the loaf on a baking sheet and cut an 'X' on the top with a sharp knife.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
