  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Caraway Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Orange Zest
  • 1 cup Warm Water
  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine rye flour, all-purpose flour, caraway seeds, and salt.
  2. 2. In a separate bowl, dissolve brown sugar and molasses in warm water. Add orange zest and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  3. 3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. 6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. 7. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it on a baking sheet.
  8. 8. Bake for 30 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. 9. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
