  • 2 cups Rye Flour
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1.5 cups Buttermilk

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rye flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for a minute.
  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet. Cut a deep cross on top of the loaf.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  7. Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
