Ingredients 

Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg beaten

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar and salt, and mix well.
  2. Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each piece into a pretzel.
  4. Place the pretzels on a baking sheet and brush with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with salt.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
