  • 2 cups Mashed potatoes cooled
  • 1 cup Milk warm
  • 2 tablespoon Butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 5 cups All-purpose flour

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, warm milk, melted butter, sugar, and salt.
  2. Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  3. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
