Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rye flour
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon Instant coffee granules
  • 1 tablespoon Caraway seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Molasses
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups Warm water

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine rye flour, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, instant coffee, and caraway seeds.
  2. Add molasses, salt, and yeast to the warm water. Stir until yeast is dissolved.
  3. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 30 minutes or until it sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
