Main Ingredients
- 4 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 ¾ cups Buttermilk
- ¼ cup Liquor (whiskey, rum, or your choice)
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk and liquor. Mix until a dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly.
Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
Cut a cross on the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
