Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 ¾ cups Buttermilk
  • ¼ cup Liquor (whiskey, rum, or your choice)

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk and liquor. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly.
  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet.
  6. Cut a cross on the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  8. Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
