Main Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 cups buttermilk
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and brown sugar.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Shape into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet.
Cut a deep cross on top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
