Bread Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1.5 cups buttermilk
Whiskey Butter Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons whiskey
- 2 tablespoons honey
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Mix until a dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead briefly. Shape into a round loaf.
Place the loaf on a baking sheet and cut a deep 'X' into the top.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is golden and sounds hollow when tapped.
For the whiskey butter, mix the softened butter, whiskey, and honey until smooth.
Serve the bread warm with the whiskey butter.
