This is a simple recipe to create your own Herman sourdough starter at home.

Ingredients 

Starter Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 cups Water Room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, water, sugar, and active dry yeast.
  2. Stir the mixture well with a wooden spoon until smooth.
  3. Cover the bowl with a cloth or plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
  4. Stir the mixture once a day for the next 4 days. Your starter will be ready to use on the 5th day.
