- 3 cups Rye flour
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups Warm water
- 1 tablespoon Molasses
- 2 teaspoon Salt
- 2 ¼ teaspoon Active dry yeast
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rye flour, all-purpose flour, and salt.
2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
3. Add the molasses to the yeast mixture and stir well.
4. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a dough forms.
5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
6. Place the dough in a greased loaf pan and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
8. Bake the bread for 45 minutes or until it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
9. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
