Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dried figs chopped
  • 1 cup Dates chopped
  • 1 cup Boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 unit Egg beaten

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine chopped figs, dates, and boiling water. Stir in baking soda and let sit for 15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and beaten egg to the fig and date mixture. Stir well.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
