  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Fennel seeds lightly crushed
  • 1.5 cups Buttermilk

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and fennel seeds.
  3. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly. Shape into a round loaf.
  5. Place the loaf on a baking sheet and cut a deep cross on top.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
