Main Ingredients
- 4 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups Warm milk
- 2 tablespoon Butter melted
- ¼ cup Cornmeal
1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
2. Gradually add warm milk and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.
6. Sprinkle a baking sheet with cornmeal and place the rounds on it. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
7. Preheat a griddle over medium heat. Cook the muffins for about 7-8 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
8. Allow to cool before splitting and toasting. Enjoy!
