- 4 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 2 ¼ teaspoon Active dry yeast
- 1 ½ teaspoon Salt
- ¼ cup Butter, melted
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
2. Add the buttermilk and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
5. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
6. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
8. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
