Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Active dry yeast
  • 1 cup Warm water
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon Chopped fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, parsley)

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. 2. Add the warm water and olive oil, and mix until a dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. 6. Punch down the dough and divide it into three equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope.
  7. 7. Braid the three ropes together, pinching the ends to seal.
  8. 8. Place the braided dough on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. 9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. 10. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
