Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk warmed
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 dyed eggs uncooked

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Divide the dough into three equal parts. Roll each part into a long rope. Braid the ropes together and form into a circle, pinching the ends to seal.
  8. Place the braided dough on a baking sheet. Gently tuck the dyed eggs into the braid, spacing them evenly.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before serving.
