Armenian Easter Bread Recipe

Main Ingredients
- 4 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Milk warmed
- 2 teaspoon Yeast active dry
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ground mahlab
- 1 teaspoon Ground anise
- 2 Eggs beaten
- 1 stick Butter melted
1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let it sit until frothy, about 10 minutes.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, ground mahlab, and ground anise.
3. Add the yeast mixture, beaten eggs, and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place it on a baking sheet.
7. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 40 minutes. Let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
