Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. 2. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, almond extract, and 2 cups of flour. Mix until smooth.
  3. 3. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. 5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place on a baking sheet.
  6. 6. Brush the top with milk and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  7. 7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
